The process of creating an illustration of Budo. The term consists of two characters: bu (武) – war, battle, warrior or fighter – and up to (道) – way. Translated as “combat routes”. It should be distinguished from the “warrior way” – bushido.

The word bujutsu is used as a synonym “budo” , but the term “bujutsu” traditional Japanese martial arts (originated before the Meiji restoration) or the martial arts of feudal Japan.
