Illustration «Samurai»
making off

October 26, 2016

The process of creating an illustration of “Samurai”. Samurai (Japanese 侍 Japanese also uses the word “busi” (武士)) – in feudal Japan – secular feudal lords, ranging from large sovereign princes (daimyo) and ending with small noblemen; in the narrow and most frequently used meaning – the military feudal class of small noblemen. Although the words “samurai” and “bushi” are very close in meaning, but still “bu” (warrior) is a broader concept, and it does not always refer to the samurai. Often draw an analogy between samurai and European medieval chivalry, but such a comparison is largely untrue.

The very same word “samurai” comes from the old vague form of the verb “to serve” (Japanese 侍 ふ saburau); that is, a samurai is a serviceman. Samurais are not only knight warriors. They were also the bodyguards of their daimyo or suzerain, and at the same time his servants in everyday life.

The illustration was designed for a karate club. Printing with silkscreen on T-shirts. 3 colors.
